Striker, Classic Jacrim Pond Boat from the 1930s 
 
For a short period of time in the 1930’s, Chester Rimmer designed boats were sold under the JACRIM label by the Keystone Toy Co. of Boston. The small black sloop was very popular and rarely survived in good original condition. This little black sloop has good original color and has not been repainted. The gold sheer strip and bow flourish is particularly crisp. The deck is very clean with a perfect JACRIM decal and original brass cups around the screw eyes. The self-steering spring on the tiller is also original. Sails, rigging and spars are new restorations using natural color cotton cloth and cotton braided cording.
 
The JACRIM hollow hull is 23 ½” long on deck and 5” wide at center. The mast is 32” from the deck and the boom is 13 ½” long. The overall height of the boat including the stand is 42”. This is a classic antique for your collection.
 
The Jacrim Company probably made this small, black sloop in 1936, just after they merged with the Keystone Toy Company of Boston. The original paint and decal on deck are in remarkably good condition. The mast, boom, sails and rigging have been restored. This boat has the classic hull shape of the Chester Rimmer designed boats, with a hollow hull that was "Guaranteed to Sail". Handsome in display and a perfect starter for a collection, this boat is a rare find.
 
The Jacrim sloop is 20" long, 4 1/2" wide, with a mast that is 24" off the deck. The overall display height, including stand, is 32". Jacrim boats were made of solid red wood, with the hull hollowed by machine. They were hand shaped and finished with a clear redwood deck. The classic black topsides were decorated with a gold cove stripe with a gold flourish on the bow. For brief period, the deck hardware included brass collars around the deck screws. After 1938, mass production at Keystone degraded the classic hull shape reduced the number of boat with hollow hulls.
